County Schools Challenge- Ideas
We believe that we need to educate young people to prevent them getting involved in gangs & committing crimes. As well as giving them options to seek help to get away from a gang.
We have created a water bottle which shows each stage of getting out of a gang as you continue to drink.
You will stay hydrated and the water bottle provides some education and information on why joining a gang is dangerous. A small leaflet comes with the bottles which gives information about gangs.
Our water bottles have the slogan and logo “Are you safe?" on the back of it. Alongside it in the corner there is a QR code which you are able to scan with your mobile phone if you ever feel like you need help to get away from a gang. The QR code will signpost you to a hidden website page where you can find help from different agencies. Reporting a concern can also be done anonymously.
We hope to be able to provide young people and children with the water bottles free where funding allows. Where possible, we would like to deliver free educational workshops on the dangers of gangs. Either in person or via video)
Where there is no funding available, we plan to advertise and sell our bottles to our local schools alongside a free educational workshop provided by us on the dangers of gangs.
Specific youth groups such as ‘Premier League Kicks’: this football programme run by Northampton Town FC Community Trust aims to engage young people aged 8-18 who may be at risk of anti-social behaviour, gang culture and knife crime. https://www.ntfccommunity.co.uk/pl-kicks
